This pretty house, set in the heart of French countryside,
is available for holidays or long term lets. You can enjoy French food, a barbecue, relax quietly or venture out to
see any of the many sights close by, such as the Mines d'Argent, the Arboretum in Melle, any of the Roman style churches
of the area or the Chateau de Javarzay amongst many other places of interest. It is a region steeped in history with
many natural parks and unspoiled rolling countryside.
Details of Accomodation and Price
This is a characterful house with 3 large bedrooms, one
with ensuite bathroom, and there is also a second bathroom, a spacious lounge and large kitchen-dining room with all
mod cons, including a dishwasher. A washing machine is also available. Two bedrooms are equipped with double
beds and a third with 2 single beds. There is another single pull out bed for use as required and a comfortable
double sofa bed in the lounge. 8-9 people may easily be accommodated here for holidays but for the longer term
it would be ideal for up to 6 residents. The garden overlooks fields in this tranquil corner of the
Deux Sevres, where you can unwind watching the sun set. This region is renowned for its micro-climate and therefore
expect Mediterranean like temperatures in the summer when you may value the shade of the trees in the garden. The thick stone
walls, tiled floors and veranda of the house provides cool respite from the sun. The baker passes through the village every morning and
sometimes twice a day. There is also a boulangerie in Melleran, approx 2 kms distant, as well as others in Chef-Boutonne,
approx 3 kms. Cycling, tennis, swimming, fishing, walking, horse riding and
sight seeing are on offer locally along with a variety of markets on many days of the week. Niort, some 30 km distant,
has a golf course and aerodrome as well as a large selection of shops. Canoeing and traditional rowing boats are available
for hire along the maze of waterways of the Marais Poitevin. Chef Boutonne, with its supermarkets, banks and shops is
the nearest market town and is only 3km away. The coast (Ile de Re and the Ile d'Oleron) is approximately
an hour's drive away and both the Vendée and the Les Landes beaches are accessible for daily trips further
afield. Locally there is a lake and river for swimming in the grounds of the Chateau de Javarzay in Chef Boutonne.
There are swimmng pools in nearby Sauzé Vaussais and Melle. The area is served by airports
at La Rochelle (1.15 hour) and Poitiers (45 minutes) and is within easy travelling distance to the Marais Poitevin (La Venise
Verte), the Atlantic coastline, the Loire to the north and the vineyards of Cognac to the south. France's
network of autoroutes enables easy driving to this region from any of the ports on the Atlantic coast or the English Channel.
For example Boulogne-sur-Mer is 7 hours drive.
Unfortunately this house is not suitable for people who are handicapped
as there are no bathroom facilities on the ground floor at this point in time.

How To Book
For holiday lets please send a letter, indicating the
dates of your desired stay, to the address on this page and include a cheque for 50% of the rental. The balance
of the rental, including the £150.00 deposit (returnable if all is fine at the end of your stay), must be paid in full 6
